Welcome to CBM

The  Center for Marine Biodiversity (CBM) is an academic unit of the Simón Bolívar University and a branch of the Institute of Marine Science and Technology (INTECMAR). Its mission is to study marine biodiversity in the Caribbean and Venezuelan Atlantic Front, using the best available technology and highly trained personnel to provide knowledge on the systematics of marine species, environmental dynamics and functioning of ecosystems, through scientific contributions, education and outreach.

The research carried out by the CBM will provide answers to key environmental problems resulting from human activities in coastal areas and offshore islands and the impacts they cause on the rich biodiversity of tropical seas Venezuelans.

This project has the support of Chevron and Conoco-Phillips through the Law of Science, Technology and Innovation.
