KUU Workshop on Caribbean Marine Biodiversity

Goals:
  1. Integrate researchers in marine biodiversity of the Caribbean region
  2. Consolidate available information on marine biodiversity in the region
  3. Learn and exchange ideas about national and regional plans, priorities and conservation policies: explore the opportunities for regional and international cooperation in new developing projects related to marine biodiversity
  4. Create a regional committee to support CoML
Participants: Scientists and academics from Bermuda, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. Research programs and institutions: CARICOMP (Caribbean Coastal Marine Productivity), STRI (Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute), FishBASE, the Harte Research Institute (Gulf of Mexico studies) and IOCaribe (Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission – Caribbean) Conservation agencies and potential partners: CI (Conservation International), TNC (The Nature Conservancy), Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), Chevron Texaco and Conoco Phillips
