Juan Manuel Díaz
jmdiaz@humboldt.org.coJuan Manuel Díaz is a biologist from the Universidad de Los Andes at Bogotá, Colombia and holds a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences from Giessen University, Germany. His dissertation was focused on the community of marine mollusks of Tayrona National Park (Colombia). He was the leader of the program on Marine Ecosystems and Marine Biodiversity at the INVEMAR. He has also acted as consultant for The Nature Conservancy. He is currently the Subdirector of the Alexander Von Humboldt Institute at Bogota, Colombia. His major areas of research are tropical marine invertebrates, conservation biology and biogeography. Among his many publications, the illustrated catalogue of Caribbean Colombian Mollusks and the atlas of Colombian Coral Reefs, are two of his major contributions to knowledge in marine biodiversity of the region.
